UFC 150 took place tonight live from Denver, Colorado, and Lightweight champion Benson Henderson has retained his championship belt in a somewhat controversial split decision over former champ Frankie Edgar. The fight saw Henderson possess an advantage in significant strikes, outlanding Edgar 89 to 62. However, Edgar held a huge advantage in the area of control, with 3 minutes, 15 seconds to a mere 10 seconds by Henderson. Edgar rocked Henderson early in the fight, while the champion landed many leg kicks.
Frankie Edgar walked into the Octagon this past Saturday with the UFC Lightweight title strapped around his waist. After a 25-minute battle with Benson Henderson he left the cage without that title as Henderson celebrated being crowned the new Lightweight Champion.
Almost as soon as he fell to Henderson, Edgar was assailed by questions if he would drop to the Featherweight division to challenge Jose Aldo for his UFC title. Edgar deflected the questions, but today, on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, he let
“The Ultimate Fighter” season 9 aired on Spike TV in the spring of 2009. This year promises to be a time of great action for the ultra-stacked UFC Lightweight division. Several fighters could make their own case for a title fight against Henderson. Let’s take a look at the most deserving:

The odds for UFC 144’s main event had Frankie Edgar as the slight favorite, but that may have been a bit of a sentimental pick, because on paper it looked like Benson Henderson was the better fighter. However after betting against Edgar for so long and coming up wrong it looked like he had finally convinced many that he was the real deal.
That’s not to say that Edgar is not the real deal, it was just that tonight Edgar’s “heart of a champion” just wasn’t enough to
This Saturday, February 25, the UFC will head to Japan to present UFC 144. In the evening’s main event Frankie Edgar will defend his UFC Lightweight title against former WEC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson.
While the UFC’s Lightweight division may not be one of the “glamour” weightclasses, it is without a doubt one of, if not the, deepest weightclasses in the UFC and when the two top fighters in the division face off on Saturday it should be something to see.
