Nick Diaz to GSP: I am not impressed by your performance
The cameras had hardly stopped rolling on last night’s GSP/Condit Welterweight title bout when a familiar character offered his comments on St-Pierre’s winning performance. Former UFC interim Welterweight title challenger Nick Diaz took to Twitter to take a verbal jab at nemesis GSP, citing some former smack talk St-Pierre had directed at Matt Hughes:
I am not impressed by your performance @georgesstpierre
Of course Diaz lost a closely-contested bout with Condit last February in a fight that many thought diaz had won. It ended up not really mattering, as Diaz failed the drug test for that fight for marijuana metabolites and was suspended for a year. He will be eligible to return on February and is most likely campaigning for another shot at GSP. Dana White has recently been on record saying that Diaz would most likely fight a highly-ranked Welterweight upon his return before receiving atitle shot. Johny Hendricks is the obvious name that comes to mind here, but the 170 lb. division may be put on hold while St-Pierre entertains a superfight with Anderson Silva. Regardless, GSP’s work is far from over, with top-level fighters like Silva, Diaz, and Hendricks all looking for a matchup with the French-Canadian superstar.
