Nick Diaz Says UFC Lawyers Will Help Him Against NSAC
UFC welterweight/middleweight Nick Diaz has been through the mill since UFC 183, having allegedly failed a drug screen after a decision loss to Anderson Silva. The result was later changed to a no-contest when ‘The Spider’ tested positive for steroids and sleeping pills, but Diaz had his own situation to deal with recently following his bizarre string of events on the night of UFC 183.
After giving two negative and one positive tests for banned substances, Diaz stood in front of the Nevada Athletic Commission to argue that the two USADA approved negative tests should stand, and the non-USADA approved positive test for marijuana should not be considered.
The NAC did the exact opposite, and in a show of immaturity, bitterness and potentially abuse of power, the Commission banned Diaz for five years, setting in motion a chain of events like no one had expected. Nearly everyone, including Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather, voiced their support for Diaz, some fighters have even boycotted Nevada in the wake of their harsh decision.
Now it looks like the UFC are showing their support, as per Nick Diaz‘s Twitter feed:
@ufc put me in touch with their lawyers at Campbell & Williams and they will also be helping me with the NSAC

Just yesterday we saw Dana White appear at Jon Jones‘ arraignment hearing, and many pointed out that Diaz had no known support from the promotion he’s made his name under. Now we’ll have to eat our words, as this is an obvious show of aid for the stricken Stockton native.
Will this make any difference to the eventual outcome? Who knows, but it will certainly increase the options available to the former Strikeforce welterweight champion.
