Nick Diaz Assaulted In Massive Las Vegas Brawl
Just days after he was denied entry to the weigh-ins for his brother Nate’s rematch with Conor McGregor at last weekend’s UFC 202 after he was involved in a bottle-throwing melee at a press event, controversial UFC welterweight Nick Diaz is back in the news.
It’s for another sort of public altercation, but this time it allegedly came at Las Vegas nightclub Hyde according to TMZ, and reportedly wasn’t Nick’s fault. A representative for the nightclub told them that Diaz was headed to the bathroom around 2:30 a.m. this morning when he accidentally bumped into another patron.
Diaz apologized and said he didn’t want any trouble, saying, “I didn’t start it. They didn’t know who I was.”
He was then assaulted by the man and three of his friends according to the story, taking a fall and a hard knock on the head. The brawl then exploded into the Bellagio, where Diaz’ assaulters went absolutely nuts, swinging chairs and fighting casino security, who eventually corralled the unruly brawlers.
In true Diaz style, however, Nick told the Bellagio he didn’t want to press charges on his assailants because “they got the worst of it.”
Diaz is reportedly set to make his return sometime later this year after his 18-month suspension for marijuana recently expired – although he does owe the NSAC $75,000 before he’s officially able to get licensed. He’s been linked to a big-money rematch with fellow returnee Georges St. Pierre, but it sounds like Diaz is stirring up a lot more trouble than he is training right now.
Just another Wednesday for Nick Diaz.
