VIDEO | Nate Diaz Scares Fan With Fake Punch At Paul vs Woodley 2
The UFC fan favourite Nate Diaz was involved in a near brawl in Tampa Florida when he was captured walking through the seated section at the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley 2 event.
Diaz faked throwing a punch at someone in attendance resulting in the person spilling their beer, the video has since gone viral after being posted on various social media platforms.
Diaz was in attendance at the boxing match in support of his teammate Chris Avila who earned a points decision victory over Anthony Taylor.
What’s next for Nate Diaz?
With the “Stockton Slugger” being on the last fight of his current UFC contract there have been a couple of potential opponents.
The early rumors were that Diaz would face rising star and welterweight bogeyman Khamzat Chimaev, but Nate has expressed no interest in facing a low-ranked “rookie” opponent.
The Conor Mcgregor Trilogy isn’t going away with that always seems like a possibility however, with Mcgregor’s horrific leg-breaker injury in his last bout with Dustin Poirier, it seems like that fight is more likely to be in late 2022. Diaz has also stated that he has no interest in being McGregor’s first fight back and says the Irishman must win some fights before facing him.
One of the most likely opponents is the previously mentioned Dustin Poirier, the two fighters were meant to fight back in 2018 at UFC 230 but the “Diamond” had to pull out due to injury.
But with Poirier falling short of winning the lightweight title once again at UFC 269 against champion Charles Oliveria, this bout seems exactly what both the UFC stars need.
Appearing recently on the MMA Hour, Dustin Poirier expressed his interest in facing Diaz.
“When I’ve been laying down thinking about fights, nothing gets me excited — unless Nate Diaz wants to fight”.
“If he wants to fight, that gets me excited. But all these other guys like even the new guys, and whoever it is, maybe a name will [get me excited] whenever I hear it, but nothing [right now].”
Do you think Nate Diaz vs. Dustin Poirier is the fight to make?
