Nate Diaz Mocks Conor McGregor For Dustin Poirier Defeats

Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz tuned in to Dustin Poirier’s loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 269 and took the time to rip Conor McGregor in the process.

Diaz and McGregor are never going to be friends in all likelihood, and the two have gone back and forth on Twitter in recent months. Diaz and Poirier also have quite the hostility between them after a previously planned fight fell through.

After an encouraging first round for Poirier, he quickly was worn down by Oliveira’s grappling and eventually succumbed to a standing rear-naked choke. Just minutes after the finish, Diaz took the time to react to the fight and question why McGregor lost to Poirier in back-to-back fights this year.

Nate Diaz Reacts To UFC 269, Rips Conor McGregor After Dustin Poirier Loss

Poirier’s loss to Oliveira was surprising to many after he was favored by many and considered the legitimate lightweight champion. But, Oliveira was able to put a pace on him after the opening minutes and finish the fight.

Diaz and McGregor are both sidelined from UFC action at the moment, with McGregor recovering from a leg injury and Diaz appearing to be in a holding pattern for his next fight. Diaz was reportedly in the works to fight rising welterweight contender Khamzat Chimaev next, but negotiations never materialized and Diaz openly declined the bout.

A trilogy between Diaz and McGregor has been the hope for fans since days after their last fight at UFC 202. McGregor won a back-and-forth war with Diaz by a majority decision, in a fight which many believed could’ve gone either way.

It’s unclear when Diaz will return to the UFC octagon as he continues to plan his return. With one fight left on his current deal, a McGregor trilogy would probably be an option that would make sense.
