Mousasi vs. Philippou, Magny vs. Lim Added To UFC Fight Night 66

The inclusion of a middleweight bout between Gegard Mousasi and Costas Philippou means UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs. Faber on May 16 in Manila now has a co-main event. Neil Magny and Hyun Gyu Lim have also been added to the card in a welterweight pairing.

Mousasi (36-5-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) will be looking to make it two straight wins after his first round knockout victory over Dan Henderson in January. “The Dreamcatcher” is yet to string together back-to-back wins since signing with the UFC in 2013 and will need to improve if he is to make a run at the 185-pound title. Philippou (13-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC) was on a two-fight skid before getting back on track with a first-round KO over Lorenz Larkin last May. Like Mousasi, he will also be eager for his second straight win to put his run of poor results firmly behind him.

Magny (14-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) had the most victories of any UFC fighter in 2015, putting together five wins between February and October. He won again last month in a bout against Kiichi Kunimoto and will aim to make it seven in a row in the Philippines in May. His opponent, Lim (13-4-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC), suffered a loss to Tarec Saffiedine in January last year, but that marks his only setback in over six years.

An interesting card developing then for the UFC’s debut event in the Philippines. The card thus far is as follows:

Featherweight: Frankie Edgar vs. Urijah Faber
Middleweight: Gegard Mousasi vs. Costas Philippou
Welterweight: Hyun Gyu Lim vs. Neil Magny
