More fights added to UFC 135, 136, 138, & Fight Night 25
UFC 135 is already looking to be a very stacked card, headlined by the main event light heavyweight title fight between Quinton Jackson and Jon Jones. To add to an exciting night of fights on September 24th with some of the sport’s biggest stars, UFC.com announced a middleweight bout between TUF veteran Nick Ring and Tim Boetsch is set to take place.
UFC 136: Maynard vs. Edgar III will be another top caliber card which will feature two title fights on October 8th in Houston, Texas. “”The Mexicutioner” Joey Beltran will be welcoming top heavyweight prospect Stipe Miocic in his UFC debut. Stipe is 6-0 since starting his MMA career last year. He has been called by many fans and insiders as the 2nd coming of Mirko Cro Cop with grappling ability. Also two top level middleweight wrestlers are set to lock horns in the Octagon with a bout between Nick Catone and Aaron Simpson being announced.
Yesterday, it was announced that UFC 138 will be the return to the United Kingdom with a main event bout of the evening featuring Chris Leben vs. Mark Munoz on November 5th. Just announced, former welterweight contender Thiago Alves will be welcoming top Swedish prospect Papy Abedi to the UFC. Papy going into this bout has an 8-0, has a black belt in Judo, but has been making his name with his striking with five TKO finishes on his record. MMA Junkie has also reported that lightweight strikers Anthony Njokuani and Paul Taylor have verbally agreed on a match up.
UFC Fight Night 25 “Battle on the Bayou” on September 17th will be headlined by “The Battle of the Jakes” Shields and Ellenberger. A welterweight match between TUF alumni Clay Harvison and DaMarques Johnson has been added to the UFC’s return to Louisiana.
