Top 5 MMA fighters who smoke weed

Some of the biggest names in mixed martial arts history have been notoriously known to partake in some rolling and weed smoking – particularly of the green variety, so below, join us as we discuss five of the most high-profile UFC stars to smoke marijuana.

Nate Diaz

Likely the most notable name on this list when it comes to smoking cannabis is former UFC superstar, Nate Diaz – who even lit up ahead of a blockbuster Octagon outing years ago, spouting his bout in jeopardy momentarily.

A former lightweight title challenger, Diaz sparked a joint both in the days before his 2019 clash with former champion, Anthony Pettis, and whilst attending an event as a fan – before earning a win over the Wisconsin striker.

Furthermore, Diaz, a talented grappler saw a stunning gogoplata submission – one of the most innovative finishes in the sport overturned to an ‘No Contest’ after he also tested positive for marijuana after his win against Takanori Gomi back in 2007.

Conor McGregor –

Another massive name to find on this list is former duel-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor – who has launched his own Irish whiskey and stout brand in recent years, to go with the launch of a new cigar brand earlier this summer.

Appearing in his native Dublin last year to attend a concert alongside infamous smoker, Snoop Dogg, McGregor admitted it was “difficult” for him to refrain from smoking weed.

“I am actually interested. He’s ‘off the smoke’ was the term he used but does that mean edibles?” McGregor wrote. “Maybe he will look to wean off it over time. What is the approach? If it is the smoke, just the smoke, that’s the way anyway because carcinogens into the chest, no matter what it is, is a no. I’ve been off it for a few weeks here in the Middle East and I’m feeling so much better for it.”

“I’ve had pockets of difficulty with it, but what type of human being trying to get the best of themselves would inhale carcinogens into their chest cavity? It’s stupidity is what it is. You just have to say to yourself, do you run it, or does it run you? I feel better for it, albeit a few pockets of difficulty, but when you stick with it and begin to get the better of it, you’re a different human being.”

Sean O’Malley –

Former undisputed bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley – along with the Diaz brothers, has been one of the more open fighters when it comes to the discussion of smoking weed.
