Ronda Rousey has built herself into a mega star and the UFC’s golden girl, but according to Miesha Tate she feels that some fans are losing their love for Rousey.

Tate told Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times it’s time for Rousey’s opponents to improve in order to preserve interest levels with fans.

The argument comes about that Rousey finishes her opponents so quickly and how much longer will fans pay to see a fight only last a minute or so. Some people believe that she’s like a Mike Tyson and that you have to see how badly she will destroy her opponent. Some people think that her finishing her opponents so quickly is bad for MMA.

“It was so fascinating to see that happen — domination like that in any division, that’s exciting — but then it gets to some point where people start losing interest, like, Well, there’s no one who can give her a run for her money … we’re not going to spend 50 bucks for 54 seconds, there’s no one who can hang …”

“It’s getting to a point where the [UFC] girls need to step up and prove it’s not a one-woman division, that others are pretty close, or on the same level, or potentially better. That’s what I see my role in this. I just know I have what it takes and I want to show the world that I can become a world champion.”

Fresh off a win at UFC on Fox 16 event, Miesha Tate was named number one contender for Rousey’s Women’s bantamweight championship and will be fighting her at a later date.

Rousey beat Tate in March of 2012 by first-round armbar to become the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Championship and then in December of 2013 at UFC 168, Rousey submitted Tate with an armbar in the third round to retain her UFC Women’s bantamweight championship.

Keep in mind that people have criticized certain fighters for being too conservative in their fights and not wanting to go in for the kill.
