Mickey Gall Submits Sage Northcutt, Wants Dan Hardy At Lightweight

When Mickey Gall (4-0) submitted CM Punk at UFC 203, he called out Sage Northcutt (8-2) during his post-fight interview. Gall got his wish when he was booked to face “Super” in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 22 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

Gall made the most of his opportunity in prime time.

The two engaged in the clinch and Gall went for a takedown. He dumped Northcutt down. He had solid control of his opponent and transitioned to side control. Gall’s corner called for him to mount. Gall tried, but couldn’t get there. Northcutt looked to explode out, but Gall went for the neck. “Super” got out and gained top control.

He decided to stand up. He kicked Gall’s legs when he was down and taunted him. A left hook from Northcutt landed and he jawed at his opponent. Gall caught a kick and finished the takedown. Northcutt went for an arm submission, but Gall reversed into mount to end the round.

Round two began and Nortcutt utilized his movement more. A left hand from Northcutt clipped Gall. Another left hook landed for “Super.” Blood formed from the head of Gall. A stunning right hand dropped Northcutt and Gall took the back and looked for a rear-naked choke. He got the arm under the chin and forced the tap.

After the fight, Gall told Brian Stann that he’d like to drop down to lightweight. He also said it would be an honor to welcome back Dan Hardy in his 155-pound debut.
