Michelle Waterson Chokes Out Paige VanZant In First Round
Two women’s strawweight fighters took center stage in the main event of UFC on FOX 22. Paige VanZant (7-3) and former Invicta FC Atomweight champion Michelle Waterson (14-4) met inside the Octagon at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.
It didn’t take long for Waterson to get this one to the ground and when she did, “12 Gauge’s” night was over.
Waterson went for a side kick immediately. She hit VanZant with a right hand. Another right hand landed for “The Karate Hottie.” Waterson pushed “12 Gauge” against the fence. VanZant landed some knees to the body, but was thrown to the mat and Waterson took the back. She got her arm under the chin, but VanZant fought it for a while. “12 Gauge” didn’t tap, but went limp and Referee “Big” John McCarthy stopped the fight.
