Joe Lauzon To Michael Chiesa: Pay Me Your Bonus And I’ll Rematch You
UFC lightweights Joe Lauzon and Michael Chiesa met in a thrilling affair at UFC Fight Night 50, see the highlights here, in a fight that was well deserving of the FOTN bonus awarded to it. The two had a thrilling back-and-forth affair, ending in the second round when a Lauzon knee opened a huge gash over the right eye of “Maverick”.
The referee halted the action after a Chiesa flurry, and doctors deemed him unable to continue. The Ultimate Fighter 15 winner has been vocal about his feelings towards the stoppage in Foxwoods, although talk of a rematch has fallen on deaf ears thus far. “The lightweight title is on the line Dec. 6,” Chiesa said. “I think me and Joe fighting Dec. 6 on the same card on the main card in Vegas, I think that would be a good scrap. It wouldn’t matter if I won or lost. I would give the $50,000 back just to be able to finish the fight. I don’t care about the money. I feel like that fight could have been a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate. I feel like it had the makings of something real special, and I really want a rematch just so we can see how it turns out. Even if he beats me, so be it. I just feel like I deserve this rematch to see how this thing pans out if I didn’t get cut.”
Well that is an interesting offer, but Lauzon says he will take the extra $50K that Chiesa made himself, and give him a rematch as a reward. Check out what “J-Lau” said over twitter:

Wow, so the rematch may well be a reality soon, but at a $50,000 price tag for Chiesa? Does that seem fair? I woud certainly pay as a fan to see a rematch, as I’m sure many others would. Do you think Chiesa deserves a rematch after losing to Lauzon at UFC Fight Night 50, and if so, shpould he have to fork out his bonus money?
