Michael Bisping vs. Brian Stann official for UFC 152
After much talk, Michael Bisping has found his next opponent barring any injuries or schedule changes. Set to face Brian Stann in the co-main event of UFC 152 on September 22nd, the famous Brit will have his chance to prove he is truly worthy of the next shot at Middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Earlier this week Bisping came out and said that while Chris Weidman did defeat Mark Munoz convincingly at UFC on Fuel TV 4, he thought that Munoz was out of shape after returning from elbow surgery. Bisping does not believe the victory was enough to earn the surging Weidman a title shot at Silva.
However, this fight announcement presents an interesting dynamic in the sense that both Bisping and Stann have been beaten by Chael Sonnen recently, who of course lost to Anderson Silva last weekend in destructive fashion. Michael Bisping is no doubt one of the best fighters in the Middleweight division, and has always been loyal to the UFC while working his way up the ladder towards his coveted title shot. Many believe that he could have just as easily taken the decision victory over Sonnen at UFC on Fox 2.
Stann is a game fighter that always comes to throw, but he has shown that wrestling may perhaps neutralize his striking prowess. Last seen defeating Alessio Sakara at UFC on Fuel TV 2, Stann is recovering from an injury right now. Bisping also had minor knee surgery, so it could come down to who recovers the quickest and most effectively. Current champ Anderson Silva is looking nigh-unstoppable as usual, and it will be obviously tough to derail him in the foreseeable future.
