Michael Bisping Makes Interesting Comments On TJ Dillashaw Relinquishing UFC Title
Michael Bisping makes some interesting comments on TJ Dillashaw and his decision to voluntarily relinquishing the UFC bantamweight title.
Dillashaw has been suspended for one year and fined $10,000 by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) for failing a USADA drug test. The failed drug test came from his fight with Henry Cejudo.
Bisping argued on his Believe You Me podcast that Dillashaw would not give up his title if he were innocent. Thus, he thinks by doing so was essentially an admission of guilt by Dillashaw.
“I don’t break the circle of trust,” Bisping said (H/T to MMAFighting). “I don’t speak outside of school. I don’t tell tales outside of f*cking tale-telling time, but I’m, telling you this, circle of trust or not, no motherf*cker relinquishes their belt out of respect for the rest of the division. It ain’t about the rest of the division, it’s about me. I’m not gonna relinquish my belt once I destroy the competition and become the champion. I’m not gonna relinquish my belt out of respect for the competition.
“You just wouldn’t do that. So that in itself – and I apologize if I’m wrong – is almost an admittance of guilt. It really is. You would not relinquish your belt unless there was some kind of guilt and you know you’re in a no-win situation.”
Before this suspension was handed out, the belief was that Dillashaw would likely have defended his bantamweight title this summer against Cejudo. Obviously, those plans are scrapped.
