Michael Bisping Praises Colby Covington: ‘He Sold The Sh*t Out Of That Fight’
Michael Bisping has heaped praise on Colby Covington following his unanimous decision defeat to Kamaru Usman at UFC 268.
The UFC Hall of Famer was not only impressed with Covington’s fight night performance, but he was also excited by the work ‘Chaos’ did to help sell the event.
At the UFC 268 pre-fight press conference, Covington stole the show and anyone and everyone were getting heat from the former interim champion.
Covington demanded 10 push-ups from veteran reporter John Morgan, took so personal digs at his opponent, and even got the better of Pink Suit Guy during their exchange.
Speaking on the latest episode of Believe You Me, Bisping gave props to Covington for the way he helped sell UFC 268.
“That press conference was amazing,” Bisping said. “Whether you like Colby or not, he did his job. I’ve got nothing against the guy, some of his shtick or antics I’m not keen on, but I can’t say s*** because I used to do the same kind of stuff when I was fighting. Everyone is saying it’s an act and if it is, he does it very well.”
“He sold the s*** out of that fight,” Bisping added. “When I was there at the press conference, I f***ing loved what he did. He was hilarious, he was entertaining, he was confident, he sold the fight.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)
Michael Bisping & Colby Covington Haven’t Always Got On
Covington won an interim welterweight champion by beating Rafael dos Anjos over five rounds back in 2018.
Immediately after the fight ‘Chaos’ was interviewed by Bisping who, at the time, was working as an analyst for Fox Sports.
Covington was unhappy with ‘The Count’ and his other colleagues predicting ‘RDA’ would beat him and made that much clear when he got on the mic. However, rather than take the high-road, Bisping could into a very public, on-air spat with the new champion.
Since then, Bisping has publicly took shot at Covington whenever he gets the chance. After UFC 268, it appears ‘Chaos’ may have finally won the former UFC middleweight champion over, at least a little bit.
Do you agree with Michael Bisping? Did Colby Covington do a good job promoting UFC 268?
