Michael Bisping And Dan Henderson Verbally Agree To Title Bout
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping may finally have his first title defense set to go, and it’s against one of his biggest rivals yet.
According to a report via Combate, Bisping and Dan Henderson have come to a verbal agreement to meet in a title bout at the UFC’s upcoming October event.
Bisping (29-7) comes off a first round knockout win over Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 this past June, to secure his first career UFC title.
Following his upset win over Rockhold, Bisping has been very vocal about wanting to avenge his vicious knockout loss to Henderson at UFC 100 seven years ago.
Henderson (32-14) is riding high after defeating Hector Lombard in their UFC 199 bout, as ‘Hendo’ finished the Cuban with a devastating reverse elbow to the temple.
The Combate report also stated that an official announcement on the bout can be expected in the coming weeks, along with the signing of contracts.
If a title bout between Bisping and Henderson is to come to fruition, the No. 13-ranked Henderson would be passing up a plethora of arguably more deserving contenders, including ‘Jacare’ Souza, Chris Weidman, and even a Luke Rockhold rematch.
