Metamoris 4 Results: ‘The Warmaster’ Wins, But ‘The American Gangster’ Doesn’t
Metamoris 4 transpired in Los Angeles on Saturday night (August 9, 2014) and for the big names at the Peterson Automotive Museum (all grappling) event – Josh Barnett and Chael Sonnen – it was a mixed bag of outcomes.
Making it into the winner’s column was Barnett. “The Warmaster” did battle with Dean Lister for nearly 20 minutes, with both men holding their own. However, Barnett was able to secure a neck crank with ten seconds left in the match, forcing “The Boogeyman” to submit. It was Lister’s first tap in almost 16 years.
On the losing side of things was Sonnen. “The American Gangster” managed to hang with jiu-jitsu wizard Andre Galvao for a good portion of the match; however, once Galvao managed to take Sonnen’s back it wasn’t long before he sunk in a rear-naked choke. As far as time goes, Galvao was able to shut Sonnen down with a little more than six minutes left to go on the 20 minute clock. Regarding his performance, Sonnen did well considering his limited jiu-jitsu experience and the level of fighter he faced.
The rest of the night’s main card results are as follows:
Andre Galvao def. Chael Sonnen via submission (rear-naked choke).
Josh Barnett def. Dean Lister via submission (neck crank).
Secret Match – Baret Yoshida vs. Jeff Glover ends in draw.
Vinny Magalhaes vs. Keenan Cornelius ends in draw.
Saulo Ribeiro vs. Robert “Comprido” Medeiros ends in draw.
Garry Tonon def. Kit Dale via submission (guillotine choke).
