Max Holloway vs. Cub Swanson Set For UFC on FOX 15
UFC Fight Night 60 went down tonight (February 14, 2015) from Broomsfield, Colorado presented live on Fox Sports 1. Although the card may have been overlooked, it was actually quite an exciting night of fights.
In the co-main event of the evening, the young and experienced Max “Blessed” Holloway took on American Top Team product Cole Miller. It was a decently close fight, but Holloway was able pick apart Miller over the course of three rounds and score a unanimous decision win.
After his win, Holloway was interviewed by UFC color commentator Jon Anik in the Octagon and a huge question was posed. Anik asked “Blessed” how he felt about a fight with top contender Cub Swanson at UFC on Fox 15, which is set to go down on April 18, 2015 in Newark, New Jersey, and Holloway agreed to the bout.
Apparently the UFC and Swanson are happy with the bout as well, as it has been made official for the April Card.
Holloway is on a five-fight win streak since losing a decision to Conor McGregor in 2013. This includes wins over Will Cope, Andre Fili, Clay Collard, Akira Corassani, and now Miller. Being only 23 years old, “Blessed” already has 11 UFC Fights, but his next bout with Swanson will undoubtedly be the biggest of his career.
Swanson was the owner of a six-fight win streak and nearing a title shot until his last bout back at UFC Fight Night 57 last November, when he was dominated by long time contender and former champion Frankie Edgar. A bout against Holloway will be a good tune up fight for him, and a chance for him to get back to his winning ways as well.
As April and UFC on FOX 15 approaches, will Holloway get the biggest win of his career, or will Swanson prove he is still a top contender at 145 pounds.
