Max Holloway: McGregor ‘Pushing The Limit’ With Recent Tweets

Max Holloway

Enjoying the momentum of his telling submission victory over No. 5-ranked veteran Cub Swanson at UFC on FOX 15, Max Holloway immediately stated he was aiming to get revenge on the fighter that handed him his most recent loss, skyrocketing Irish sensation Conor McGregor.

That desire only grew when McGregor issued a tweet in the aftermath of UFC on FOX 15 that congratulated Holloway for doing well in ‘his’ division while describing himself as ‘daddy’:

Holloway was not surprisingly quick to respond, telling McGregor that he can tag him in his tweets if he ever wants his attention:

Recently, he further elaborated on his dislike for McGregor’s antics to MMAjunkie Radio, describing them as disrespectful. According to Holloway, McGregor won’t say anything similar to his face:

“To try and tweet something and be this tough guy over the Internet and call someone ‘kids’ and ‘daddy’ – no one says that they’re my daddy. That’s just disrespectful. If I saw him in a hotel or something and the cameras are off, he’s not going to say sh-t to my face. I just felt super disrespected. You don’t go around doing that sh-t. I understand you need to promote yourself and stuff, but you’re just pushing the limit.”

On the hottest run of his career, the 23-year-old believes McGregor could be backing himself into a corner. “Notorious” will have his chance to win the belt when he faces Jose Aldo in the main event of July’s UFC 189, but beyond that, Holloway believes he’ll eventually get his rematch with his Irish enemy:

“He’s digging his own hole. July 11, we’ll see what happens to him. All I know is that I’m going to get my rematch and I can’t wait.”

“Blessed” moved up to No. 6 in the current UFC rankings, auspiciously still one spot behind Swanson. The surging Hawaiian has six straight wins since he lost to McGregor at UFC Fight Night 26 in August 2013, and he could conceivably be headed for an anticipated rematch if McGregor does lose to Aldo.

Has he improved enough to take out “Notorious” the second time around?
