Max Holloway & Jeremy Stephens Agree To December Bout
UFC 194, which is set for December 12, 2014 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, is shaping up to be not only one of the biggest cards of the year, but one of the biggest cards of all time, and it may have just gained a marquee featherweight matchup.
FOX Sports has reported that top featherweight contenders Max “Blessed” Holloway, and Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens have verbally agreed to a fight on the upcoming December card. Despite no official confirmation from the UFC just yet, bout agreements are expected to be signed shortly according to sources close to the situation.
No. 5-ranked Holloway has been red hot as of late, scoring six-straight victories including five finishes. He most recently competed at UFC Fight Night 74 on August 24, 2015, as he took on fellow rising featherweight Charles Oliveira. Oliveira ended up suffering an injury early on, and although controversial, it was a win nonetheless for Holloway.
“Blessed” will look to continue his win streak against Stephens as he gets closer to a title shot.
Stephens on the other hand, currently sits at No. 8 in the 145-pound rankings and is coming off of a super impressive flying knee TKO of Dennis Bermudez in one of the best fights in recent memory at UFC 189. He will look to prove that he can hang with the division’s elite when he takes on Holloway this winter.
UFC 194 is being headlined by the long-awaited, and highly-anticipated featherweight title matchup between reigning 145-pound kingpin Jose Aldo, and interim champion the “Notorious” Conor McGregor.
Also, middleweight champion Chris Weidman will look to once again defend his title against surging No. 1-contender Luke Rockhold in what could be one of the very best fights the middleweight division has to offer.
