For the very first time in promotional history, the UFC is headed to South Korea, as a UFC Fight Night is set for November 27, 2015 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea.

It was recently reported that a welterweight battle between former lightweight champion Benson “Smooth” Henderson, and former title challenger Thiago Alves was expected to headline the event, and there may be a potential heavyweight bout that could be heading to South Korea as well.

Legendary kickboxer Mirko Cro Cop tweeted earlier today that his next fight would be on November 27, 2015, but he didn’t announce an opponent:

So who could possibly be fighting Cro Cop?

Well there’s no official word yet, but when speaking with MMAFighting.com, Matt Mitrione expressed interest in fighting Cro Cop in Korea:

“I would be honored to fight a legend like Cro Cop in Korea,” Mitrione said. “We would put on a fantastic show for those fans. I’d be happier than hell.”

Mitrione was riding a three-fight win streak that included three-straight finishes over the likes of Shawn Jordan, Derrick Lewis, and Gabriel Gonzaga, but his streak was derailed when he was submitted by “Big” Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 68 last June.

Cro Cop on the other hand returned to the Octagon last April after a few years of competing outside of the UFC. He took on Gonzaga in a rematch, and it turned out to be a fantastic back and forth, bloody war that saw the Croatian come out on top with a third-round TKO win.

Despite being an ageing competitor, Cro Cop is undoubtedly a fan favorite, and may have some gas left in the tank. Pairing him up with a fighter like Mitirione would be a great test to see where he stands at this point in his career.
