Lyoto Machida Or Yoel Romero At UFC Fight Night 70?
Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida returns to action this weekend (Saturday June 27th, 2015) as he takes on Olympic freestyle wrestler and surging contender Yoel Romero in a middleweight bout. ”The Dragon’ is coming off a one-sided submission defeat at the hands of the next title contender Luke Rockhold, and will be making a quick and very dangerous turnaround against ‘Soldier Of God’ in Hollywood, California this Saturday.
Romero’s last bout was a highly controversial and exciting knockout win over Tim Kennedy at UFC 178. After allegedly staying seated for longer than the allocated time period between the second and third round, ‘SOG’ smashed the US Army sniper in spectacular fashion. Looking to get a much cleaner victory this time around, Romero will have to be on his toes against the elusive and tricky Machida.
So who has the stylistic advantage here? Machida has certainly slowed down a little in recent times, and looked out of sorts against ‘Rocky’, but is quite often more dangerous when motivated properly for a fight. Bouts with Mark Munoz and Thiago Silva show that in volumes. Romero is a powerful man, with the ability to end anyone’s evening early on or late, but does he have the chops in the stand up to catch a Karate master like ‘The Dragon’?
Who is your pick for the winner of the UFC Fight Night 70 main event, Lyoto Machida or Yoel Romero?
