UFC middleweight Lyoto Machida returned to action last night (Saturday December 20th, 2014) as he faced CB Dollaway at UFC Fight Night 58. “The Doberman” was no match for “The Dragon”, as he ate a huge body kick in the opening moments of the fight. With the win, Machida bounces back from his decision loss to Chris Weidman at UFC 175 this past July.

So what’s next for the once again victorios ex-champion? Well it looks like a booking against Luke Rockhold could be on the horizon. The two were once linked to a meeting before “Rocky” faced Michael Bisping, and he reached out to UFC president Dana White last night to ask for the Machida fight:

“The Dragon” was also quoted as saying that a fight with Rockhold would be “Excellent” during the post-fight press conference. MMAJunkie also had the following from Machida:

“It could be Luke Rockhold or another,” Machida said. “I’m prepared to face anyone.”

The line of contenders in the UFC middleweight division is just about as dangerous as it’s ever been. We’ll wait for confirmation, but it’s looking quite likely that Lyoto Machida vs Luke Rockhold is on the cards next.
