Lorenzo Fertitta Makes Bold Claim About UFC Fighter Pay

Lorenzo Fertitta

Fighter pay is always a hot topic to talk about in the MMA world. While there is various MMA promotions in the world, the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) is the number one promotion, thus they get the most criticized about this topic.

UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta recently did an interview with CNN Money and during that interview, Fertitta explained that the UFC pays more than any other promotion in the world, and that includes Bellator MMA, which is owned by Viacom.

Fertitta stated that the UFC’s top fighters were making multi-millions of dollars because of how fast the sport has risen in such a short amount of time.

“The fact of the matter is our top athletes are making multi-millions of dollars, and what is happening as the sport grows and the compensation goes up along as revenue goes up, you’re starting to see that the guys and girls at the top are commanding a larger share of that pie,” Fertitta said.

Fertitta also said that people are willing to pay top dollar to see the top fighters fight.

“I think you see that in just about every sport, in every business,” Fertitta said. “It’s the athletes that make a difference that people want to pay for, they’re commanding the big dollars.”

Fertitta claimed in an earlier interview that the UFC pays their fighters more each year, which other promotions do not do.
