UFC Fight Pass Expands Library To Include Over 9,000 Fights
Prior to tonight’s (Sat., January 3, 2015) blockbuster UFC 182 card from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, the UFC will make a special Fight Pass update announcement live at the top of the hour at 5 p.m. EST.
Fight Pass, thew UFC’s digital online subscription service, made it possible for fans around the world to watch endless hours of fights while facilitating the promotion’s aggressive international expansion during 2014. Opening preliminary fights for most cards air on Fight Pass, and many non-U.S. events are available only on the service.
As far as the update is concerned, it’s not really clear what to expect, but the UFC’s recent “special announcements” haven’t exactly been all barnburners. Tune and find out in just a few moments below:
“It’s been an incredible year, Fight Pass is becoming the Netflix for fight fans. It’s achieving our goal of becoming useful to fans, fighters, media and managers. Some of the fighters highlighted were Mark Hunt, Conor McGregor, Saffiedine vs Lim and many more. We will have more live bouts in 2015, more Invicta FC coverage, and more original coverage.”
Come on guy, get to the point…..
“The fightographies are allowing fans to come in and learn more about fighters and events, and really delivering on becoming the tool to discover all MMA for fight fans. Today we are really excited to announce the acquisition of some new fights to add to our library. These fights will take our library to over 9,000 fights. We decided it was time for more content.”
“We’ve acquired the rights to Cage Rage, XFO, KOTC, UCMMA, Pancrase, EXC, Hook ‘n’ Shoot, and TKO. We are adding all these libraries, there will be no added cost to members, and they’ll be live around Spring time. “
Wow, that’s pretty impressive. What the UFC has cleverly done here is to give these smaller, essentially regional in comparison MMA promotions a chance to swim in the Zuffa wake. Of course you can imagine that the UFC will be getting a good taste from all the extra memberships resulting from this huge expansion.
All in all, this is actually great for existing members. Promotions like King Of The Cage and Cage Rage have hosted such talents as Anderson Silva, Rory MacDonald, Melvin Manhoef and count;less others. They played host to the rise of many major MMA champions, so this is a really good way to track your favorite fighter’s entire career using only Fight Pass.
Kudos to the UFC, as they continue to work towards world domination
