Leben angered by Akiyamas comment
Leben a late replacement for injured Wanderlai Silva is angered by the fact that Yoshihiro Akiyama does not think he is a worthy opponent and almost pulled out of their UFC 116 bout . A few weeks ago “Sexyama” stated he had wanted to fight Wanderlai for a long time since he wanted to fight the biggest names and cement his place in the UFC. Although Leben is not as big of a superstar as the former Pride champion he is still a dangerous test and is currently on a 2 fight win streak.
“I’ve won 10 fights in the UFC. Akiyama won one fight and it was split decision over Alan Belcher,” Leben told the Sherdog Radio on Wednesday. “I don’t see what he’s complaining about. His opponent got hurt; he’s lucky to have a fight. Bottom line is he works for the UFC and he needs to get in there and do his job.”
A win over Akiyama would be huge for Lebens career as he would be on a 3 fight win streak But Yoshihiro is no slouch. He is a very well rounded fighter who can Knock you out or submit you and is currently (13-1). I would have to give the stand up to Leben but if the fight goes to the ground he may be in trouble.
