Kron Gracie made a statement in his UFC debut this past weekend (Sun. February 17, 2019) in Phoenix, Arizona.

Gracie submitted Alex Caceres in the first round of their UFC on ESPN 1 match-up. Speaking to Combate after his big win, the 30-year-old discussed what was going through his head during the fight. Gracie admitted that as soon as he got Caceres to the canvas he thought “He’s not escaping” (via Bloody Elbow):

“It was the best debut possible. I always expect it to be a lot worse, but it was the best possible,” Gracie said. “I want to fight soon and keep at it, I don’t know what happened, all I know is that I took his back and said ‘He’s not escaping’.”

Gracie also said that he’d like to get back into the Octagon rather quickly. He specifically named the upcoming UFC 237 pay-per-view (PPV) from Curitiba, Brazil on May 11th. That’s only three short months away in his home country:

“It’s in May, right? I think that would be good. That’s in three months. I’m in condition to fight in May, that’s for sure. I fought in Japan, United States and now Brazil. I’ve been all over the world.”
