Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Father Responds To Conor McGregor’s Rematch Desires

Conor McGregor

The door is open for Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor II according to Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.

Although Khabib Nurmagomedov and Ali Abdelaziz don’t want the rematch, Abdulmanap, is open to it, under one condition. It must be in Moscow like McGregor suggested.

“If McGregor wants it, then Moscow is waiting for him. He said once that he has more fans here than Khabib,” he said to Zhivina100 (h/t RT Sport) We want to host him in Moscow, he is welcome – we are waiting.”

Although Abdulmanap is open to the fight, he says his son, Khabib Nurmagomedov, needs to finish his own business. That is fighting Tony Ferguson, who is the number one contender. Yet, he says that fight won’t happen until after March, and they think Madison Square Garden would be a good venue for it.

“Before McGregor we should finish our business with Ferguson,” he stated. “Because he had 28 fights, and runs a 12-fight winning streak in the UFC, just like Khabib. Such winning streaks and such big fights have never happened in the UFC.

“So I think Madison Square Garden is a good place for this fight, but we won’t fight earlier than March.”

Of course, Khabib Nurmagomedov and McGregor fought back at UFC 229 in October of last year. There, it was the undefeated Dagestani lightweight champion who submitted the Irishman in the fourth round to defend his title. Then, a post-fight melee occurred, where the two were suspended by the NSAC.

Whether or not the fight happens again is to be seen, but Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father at least has opened the door to it.
