Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson met in a middleweight bout as the main event of UFC Fight Night 77. The fight started off slow, but that quickly changed. Belfort landed a head kick; he tagged him with some strikes that dropped Henderson and then finished him on the ground with strikes. Some thought it was a bad stoppage, but it looked alright to most fans.

Ever since then, fans and media members alike have asked the question, should Dan Henderson retire?

UFC Tonight’s Kenny Florian and Daniel Cormier gave their take on if Henderson should retire during this past Wednesday’s episode.

“I don’t think there’s any shame in losing to a guy like Vitor Belfort, but Dan Henderson has to start thinking about retiring at this point because he’s taken a lot of damage, especially if you look at the last several fights he’s had in the UFC,” Florian said. He’s been fighting some tough guys, and yes he’s had some wins and won by knockout, but I would like to see him transition. Maybe get a job with the UFC or something.”

Cormier then followed up with this:

“In Dan’s mind he was going to actually take his time before he attacked Vitor, but then Vitor actually threw the head kick,” Cormier said. “It wasn’t set off any punches or anything. The chin, the reflexes – it might be time for him to hang it up.”

Henderson (32-13) is currently on a one-fight losing streak. In his last six bouts, he’s 3-3.
