Karo “The Heat” Parisyan may sign for Strikeforce
Former UFC welterweight Karo Parisyan has entered into talks with Strikeforce, since being dropped by UFC before UFC 106. MMAFighting reports that “The Heat” has been thrashing out deal with the UFC’s biggest rival, however Strikeforce officials have refused to deny or confirm the story.
Karo was dropped by the UFC after pulling out of his UFC 106 bout with Dustin Hazelett only hours before the weigh ins. He has never publicly spoke about why he dropped out, however almost as soon as this was announced, Dana White hit Twitter announcing that “not be fighting Saturday or ever again in the UFC!!”. He also stated he had “a laundry list of excuses” for dropping him.
At UFC 88, Parisyan was set to face off against Yoshiyuki Yoshida however he was forced to drop out due to a back injury. His final UFC bout was a split decision win over Kim-Dong Hyun, which was later over turned when it emerged parisyan had tested positive for banned painkillers hydrocodone, hydromorphone, and oxymorphone which Parisyan stated were prescribed for his back injury. On the same day he was dropped, Neil Melanson, a longtime friend and training partner of Parisyan’s, divulged to MMA news site Five Ounces Of Pain that Parisyan has been battling an addiction to painkillers dating back to an injury suffered while training for a fight.
