Josh Koscheck believes he beat Johny Hendricks, requests five-round rematch

Josh Koscheck not surprisingly came out with some comments regarding his close split decision loss to Johny Hendricks at UFC on Fox 3 last Saturday. He felt that he did enough to win both rounds 1 & 3, rounds that Hendricks thought he won with as well. Either way, the bout was slightly controversial and Koscheck wants a rematch, saying the following via Twitter.com:

It may be a longshot to secure a main event five-round bout for this rematch, but Koscheck is obviously unhappy with the results. He has expressed that he will not make any excuses for the loss however.

To complicate matters, Dana White recently said Johny Hendricks would gain a title shot with a victory over Koscheck. So a whole new debate will rage on as it has already, that of whether Johny Hendricks is truly ready for the Welterweight title bout or not. This will hinge largely on the readiness of Georges St. Pierre upon his return.

In a division that once looked cleaned out not so long ago, all of the sudden there is a waiting list for the 170 lb. title shot. Remember when Jon Fitch was one more victory away from another crack at GSP in early 2011? Many changes have taken place since then. The future looks bright for many fighters that call the division home, and is a veritable melting pot of extremely talented fighters. Who truly won between Josh Koscheck and Johny Hendricks? If damage is taken into account by the judges, the edge may slightly go to Hendricks. Did Koscheck do enough to warrant a rematch? Did Hendricks prove that he deserves to wait for a far-off shot at the belt? Only time will tell, and it will only get more interesting after June’s Jake EllenbergerMartin Kampmann fight.
