Renan Barao (33-3-1) is coming off a loss to TJ Dillashaw at UFC on Fox 16 in the fourth round via TKO. Now, with two losses to the champion, Barao will need to make some big changes to his fighting career.

UFC president Dana White believes the former bantamweight champion “should probably move up” to 145 pounds following the loss to Dillashaw.

Jose Aldo, who is the UFC featherweight champion as well as Barao’s team mate, stated that Barao should move up to 145 because Barao cuts too much weight to make 135.

“We have to see what’s best for Barao,” Aldo said to the media on Saturday night at the HSBC Arena following UFC 190. “He suffers a lot to make weight. He’s kind of strong for the division. I hope me moves up, yes. I will root for him no matter what, no matter where he is, at 145 of 135. I hope he can fight well at featherweight, that he moves up well.”

“He has a good head and will bounce back, at my weight or at bantamweight.”

With Barao being 8-2 while, in the UFC and those two losses only to Dillashaw, Aldo believes that Barao and Dillashaw just doesn’t match-up together.

“For sure. There are things we see and simply don’t work,” Aldo said. “This time Barao trained hard, we were confident he would do a completely different fight. He tried to fight the way he was training in the gym, but he couldn’t. T.J. was happy that night. He was able to impose his game.”

Now it’s a wait and see time for Barao as well as his fans on what weight class he’ll be fighting. Also, who will Barao fight next is also the next question as well. A lot of questions with no a ton of answers.
