Jose Aldo Reveals Target Date & Opponent For Next Fight

UFC Fortaleza Results

Jose Aldo reveals when and against who he wants to fight next inside the Octagon. The former UFC featherweight champion is looking to wrap up his MMA career at the end of this year and wants all three fights to take place in Brazil.

Aldo TKO’d Renato Moicano in the second-round of their co-headlining bout. This fight went down at the UFC on ESPN+ 2 show in Fortaleza, Brazil at Centro de Formação Olímpica do Nordeste. It marked the most recent fight that Aldo took part in.

Earlier this week while talking with the media at one of his burger joints in Rio de Janeiro, Aldo made it known that he’s open to fighting 145-pound contender Alexander Volkanovski next. He’s also open to fighting a lightweight opponent. Either way, he wants his next fight to take place at the UFC 237 pay-per-view event.

“I gave them some names, but Volkanovski is a good opponent and is on a great streak,” Aldo told MMAFighting. “He’s coming off a great win over Chad Mendes, so it would be a great fight.”

“That’s why we asked him, it’s a great match-up,” he continued. “He’s a very aggressive fighter, comes forward, so we already had in mind asking for him after (fighting) Moicano. Let’s see if it works. There’s a possibility we fight at lightweight, too, but that’s up to ‘Dede’ (Pederneiras). He has to negotiate.”

The UFC 237 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card will air on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET and the the UFC’s streaming service, Fight Pass.
