The UFC light heavyweight champion will make his next title defense against this title contender at the upcoming UFC 239 pay-per-view event. According to the oddsmakers, Jones is a -800 (1/8) to beat Santos, who is a +575 (23/4) underdog.
The champ was able to secure a unanimous decision win over Anthony Smith in the headliner of the UFC 235 pay-per-view event in his last fight. This show went down on March 2, 2019, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The top contender beat Jan Błachowicz by TKO in the headliner of the UFC on ESPN + 3 event in his last fight. This show went down at the O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic on February 23, 2019. After the fight, he made it known that he wants to challenge Jones for the strap.
UFC President Dana White stated in 2016 he would never take the risk of headlining a show with Jones again. That has changed, as Jones has headlined two shows since then. And now he’s about to do it for the third time.
The UFC 239 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card will air on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET and the UFC’s streaming service, Fight Pass.
