Jon Jones Reacts To Anthony Johnson’s Win Over Alexander Gustafsson
The main event of tonight’s (Sat., January 24, 2015) UFC on FOX 14 from Stockholm, Sweden, featured a pivotal light heavyweight bout between No. 1-ranked Alexander “The Mauler” Gusatfsson and No. 3-ranked Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, with the winner getting the next shot at reigning light heavyweight king Jon “Bones” Jones.
It seemed as if many fans may have been expecting and possibly even hoping for Gustafsson to bypass Johnson and earn his highly anticipated rematch with Jones of their classic 2013 bout that saw “The Mauler” almost come away with the belt.
However, Johnson had different plans, shocking the world by knocking out Gustafsson in the first round in front of Gustafsson’s Swedish faithful. Jones went to Twitter, quickly sounding just as surprised as the fans:
Wow

The controversial champion also took a shot at Gustafsson, noting that he was not impressed with the Swedish superstar’s performance, but quickly deleted the tweet. This was probably a response to Gustafsson posting a similar message on social media after Jones’ most recent win over Daniel Cormier earlier this month. Securing the biggest win his career, “Rumble” will now get ready for a bout with Jones later this year. The longtime champion believes it will be a great fight as well:
Man this fights going to be awesome “@iGrowBeard: Rumble is for real… Can’t wait to see him fighting against @JonnyBones”

I feel great about it “@xxMz_Jonesxx: I wonder what @JonnyBones feels about @Anthony_Rumble being his next opponent”

Proving that he is amongst the elite at 205 pounds, Johnson is now in line for the opportunity of a life time. Can the heavy-handed slugger really challenge “Bones”, or will the champion make another dangerous contender look like just another average foe?
