Jon Jones’ Manager: The UFC Is Mocking The Belt
Jon Jones must be kicking himself right about now, as the UFC recently announced that newly crowned champion Daniel “DC” Cormier, will face off with No. 2-ranked Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson: two men that “Bones” beat, fighting for the belt that he essentially never lost. That must be tough to watch.
Not to mention, Gustafsson is coming off of a devastating knockout loss to recent title challenger Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at January’s UFC on FOX 14. Because of this, Jones’ famed manager, Malki Kawa, took to his official twitter account, saying that the UFC is basically making a mockery of the belt with this pairing of combatants:
It’s as if they’re mocking the belt even more. You lose to the real champ, then fight a guy who lost his last fight? Weird

Although I understand where Kawa is coming from, as it could be argued that neither man deserves to be the champion as neither has beaten Jones, but does Jones really deserve to be the champion? Has he really honored the belt, and been an honorable champion? I would have to say no, and some may argue that Jones even made a mockery of the belt himself.
A DWI in 2012, followed by a positive test for cocaine metabolites after his UFC 182 win over Cormier were only the first of problems for Jones. The now disgraced former champion and former pound-for-pound king is dealing with a whole new mess, as he is facing possible prison time after being arrested on felony hit-and-run charges. After news broke of “Bones’” latest incident, the UFC stripped him of the title, pulled him from UFC 187, and suspended him indefinitely which has led to a massive shake-up in the 205-pound division, and the so-called “mocking” of the belt.
Jones definitely has a bunch of work to do, and many problems to fix before he can come back to the Octagon and challenge for the belt that some may say is rightfully his. But until then, how do you think the UFC is dealing with the light heavyweight title picture?
