Jon Jones Blasts Carlton Banks For No-Show
UFC light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones are beefing hard again, and the trash talk is heating up, big time….
Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones has wasted no time in getting back in to the role of MMA’s bad guy, as he’s started to engage in yet another war of words with his old rival Daniel Cormier. ‘DC’ now holds the title that Jones vacated following his troubles with the law, and now the ex-champ is free and clear, albeit on parole, the beef is started to heat up all over again.
‘Bones’ invited Cormier to his gym opening in New Mexico this weekend (Saturday October 31, 2015) and the Olympic wrestler said he’d be there. Well, it turns up Cormier didn’t show up, although he did send out this very suspicious looking Tweet, which was shot down instantly by the champion’s biggest nemesis.
If you think it looks like a photoshop, that’s because it is. Check out the update on the biggest Twitter beef this weekend, and the continuation of the single most publicized UFC feud in the promotion’s history:
Thank you to all the people of ABQ who came out to support the Grand opening. Sorry you guys didn’t get a chance to meet my belt sitter #505

I’m here they won’t let me in! Next time he has to come to the Bay! pic.twitter.com/xUezZqo63Q

I’m done talking with you for now Carlton Banks. You are losing this battle, let’s just prepare for the real one. #Unbelievable #NiceTry

So with the inevitable looming, there are many questions that get posed for the division. Firstly, how will the rest of the contenders look after Jones and Cormier fight another two times? Who knows, perhaps it’s time for a crop of fresh contenders to get that period of time to build up the division’s top end again.
Secondly, who’s legacy will be cemented? If Jones defeats ‘DC’ again in a repeat of UFC 182, it will surely end Cormier’s fighting career. A win for the current champion would likely lead to a trilogy maker, wrapping up the belt for the next 18 months at least.
Stay tuned.
