UFC 187 is set to go down on May 23, 2015 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada presented live on pay-per-view (PPV). Last week, multiple bouts were announced, making the card one of the most intriguing events in recent memory.

The card will be headlined by two title fights, as reigning light heavyweight champion and pound-for-pound king Jon “Bones” Jones puts his strap on the line against surging contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. In the co-main event, middleweight boss Chris Weidman will defend his title against long time veteran Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort.

It was also made clear that lightweight standouts Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov would do battle on the main card.

Today (February 22, 2015) the UFC has announced another very interesting bout that will go down in May. Former title challenger and top flyweight contender John “The Magician” Dodson will return from injury to face off with the No. 9-ranked Zach Mokovsky:

“The long-awaited Octagon return of number one-ranked flyweight contender John Dodson will take place at UFC 187 on May 23, as “The Magician” takes on number nine-ranked Zach Makovsky at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.”

Dodson will return from an eight month layoff due to surgery to repair a torn meniscus and ACL. However, he still sits as the No. 1-ranked flyweight, riding a two fight win-streak since losing to flyweight king Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson back in January 2013.

Makovsky recently scored a unanimous decision win over Tim Elliot at last weekend’s UFC Fight Night 60 from Broomfield, Colorado. In the contender scare 125 pound division, Mokovsky could secure a title shot if he knocks off Dodson.
