Joe Rogan Reveals Why He’ll Only Call 10 UFC Events A Year
UFC color commentator Joe Rogan explains a lot of things on his top-rated “JRE” podcast. He most recently talked about his workload on his latest fight companion.
The UFC and ESPN partnership could not have gotten off to a better start. The first several events in this “new era” of UFC programming have been home runs. For example, last weekend’s UFC Phoenix hit numbers that
Rogan, however, has been noticeably absent from ESPN broadcasts as he was in the previous run with FOX.
“I’m not interested,” said Joe during a recent edition of his “Fight Companion” podcast.
“I would take this for zero money over being in Phoenix right now. Although I would like to see those fights live and call those fights live, I’m good with 10 a year,” he added. “10 a year is what I like. Once a month, two months off.”
Although Rogan has been with the UFC for over 20 years, he went on to explain how he seriously considered walking away. But in the end, decided scaling back was the move.
“Listen, man, I was thinking I was on my way out, but I still love it. And I love it way more now because I don’t have to do it as much. And I love it way more now because we do this because we can do all of this shit-talking, have fun and be silly.”
In his absence, the UFC has promoted Michael Bisping from the analyst desk to work color alongside mainstays Jon Anik, Daniel Cormier, and Dominick Cruz.
