Joanna Jedrzejczyk Ready To Fight Joanne Calderwood In Scotland

After winning the UFC women’s strawweight belt with a one-sided upset of Carla Esparza in the co-main event of March 14’s UFC 185, fan favorite Joanna Jedrzejczyk is ready to take on all comers.

However, she just doesn’t know who that will be.

One strawweight who has been noticeably vocal about facing Jedrzejczyk is The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20 alum Joanne Calderwood, who faces undefeated Maryna Moroz on the main card of tomorrow’s (Sat., April 11, 2015) UFC Fight Night 64 from the champion’s native Poland.

Calderwood has expressed a desire to face Jedrzejczyk for the belt at July 18’s UFC Fight Night 73 from her home country of Scotland. If Calderwood gets past Moroz, it’s not an idea that Jedrzejczyk would be altogether opposed to.

Discussing her fighting future with MMAJunkie.com before her UFC Fight Night Krakow Q&A session today, Jedrzejczyk said she’s ready to fight Calderwood in Glasgow this summer if that’s what the UFC so chooses:

“I don’t what’s going to happen, if she’s going to win or not. I don’t care. If the UFC wants me to fight her, I will fight her. If they want me to fight in Glasgow, I will do this. … If they want me to fight ‘JoJo’ in Glasgow, I will do this. I will be ready.”

The intense and dominant striker seems to have an anyone at anytime attitude about her upcoming bouts in the fledgling women’s 115-pound division, and that’s something that can only help that area of the sport further rise to prominence after bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey brought women’s MMA to the forefront over the past couple of years.

Jedrzejczyk is here to continue building on that legacy, and with her skills and unique personality; the future looks very bright. Check out her full Q&A from Poland below:
