Joanna Jedrzejczyk Bests Michelle Waterson – UFC Tampa Results
Finally, in our UFC Tampa main event, Joanna Jedrzejczyk takes on Michelle Waterson at strawweight.
Round 1:
Jedrzejczyk lands nicely inside the pocket with a hook. Waterson catches a kick and goes for a takedown, but then backs off and lands some strikes against the cage. Jedrzejczyk turns the tide and presses Waterson against the cage. Waterson recovers dominant position, but Jedrzejczyk is throwing up knees and elbows. Waterson separates with a hook. A crisp right-hand lands for Jedrzejczyk.
Waterson shoots in but Jedrzejczyk stuffs it before being pressed against the cage. Jedrzejczyk gets dominant position against the cage and lands a nasty elbow. Waterson now with dominant position, but Jedrzejczyk gets it right back and lands an elbow. Another elbow sneaks in for Jedrzejczyk. More nice elbows landing for Jedrzejczyk. The round comes to an end.
Round 2:
Jedrzejczyk opens the round with a leg kick. More leg kicks from Jedrzejczyk, and she’s switching them up nicely to the body as well. Waterson lands a very nice head kick and fails on a takedown attempt. Another head kick lands for Waterson. Waterson fails on another takedown attempt and has Jedrzejczyk against the cage.
They separate and Jedrzejczyk goes back to the leg attacks. Waterson gets deep on a single leg attempt but Jedrzejczyk shakes it off against the cage. Some knees from Jedrzejczyk against the cage. Waterson lands a nice kick to the body. Jedrzejczyk with a hard kick to the face now. The round comes to an end.
Round 3:
Jedrzejczyk is content to continue attacking the leg of Waterson, who isn’t checking leg kicks. A nice body kick connects for Waterson, but Jedrzejczyk responds with one of her own. Jedrzejczyk unloads a very nice combination now. A nice clinch up from Jedrzejczyk, and now Jedrzejczyk drags down Waterson. Jedrzejczyk seems to be going for a D’arce choke. Waterson scrambled out nicely and gets to her feet.
Waterson gets a nice takedown and takes Jedrzejczyk’s back quickly. Waterson is working on a choke now. Jedrzejczyk is able to shake her off and now Jedrzejczyk is teeing off against the cage to end the round.
Round 4:
A big shot lands for Jedrzejczyk as Waterson steps inside. Now, Jedrzejczyk has Waterson pressed up against the cage. Jedrzejczyk lands a nice kick to the body as she has Waterson against the cage. A nice right hand lands for Jedrzejczyk again. Jedrzejczyk now trying for a takedown on Waterson, but Waterson defends nicely. Some nice elbows landing for Jedrzejczyk against the cage. More big elbows from Jedrzejczyk to end the round.
Round 5:
A beautiful combination lands inside the pocket for Jedrzejczyk. Clinched up against the cage now the pair exchange dominant position. A very nice back take from Waterson now, but Jedrzejczyk is standing. Baseball grip from Jedrzejczyk and she powers out and gets the fight standing again. With seconds left Jedrzejczyk presses Waterson against the cage and the pair exchange knees. Jedrzejczyk gets the back clinch to end the fight.
