Jim Miller is looking for revenge against Gray Maynard
UFC Lightweight Jim Miller has had nothing but a stellar fight career. The only thing barring from an outright title shot has been the intermittent loss, his last being to former title challenger Nate Diaz. However, Miller is a man who does not give up easily.
His grit was shown forthright in an absolute battle with known finisher Joe Lauzon at UFC 155, where he gained an impressive decision win. During that bout, Miller displayed an excellent Muay Thai game that no doubt deviated from his normal strategy of wrestling and BJJ. Bloodying the always-tough Lauzon from the outset, the win gave Miller an avenue back into the crowded 155 lb. title picture.
Now Miller is looking for the exact bout that will get him into the title picture. And from many points of view, calling out the insanely tough Gray Maynard may be just the statement fight that Jim Miller needs to stake his claim at the belt. But a fight with “The Bully” is never easy, evident by his impressive record. Having been knocked out only by the always-resilient Frankie Edgar, Maynard was last seen beating Clay Guida in a bout that some labeled as the worst of the year.
Maynard is no stranger to big fights, having his sights set on the Lightweight belt now that he actually has a new chance with Edgar’s defection to Featherweight. Another fight with Miller would be a great rematch, as Gray previously beat Miler back in 2009.
In fact, Miller has shown to be a very well rounded fighter who has only lost to the best. Should he be granted a rematch with “The Bully,” is this the time that Jim Miller finally makes his way into the upper echelon of the Lightweight ranks?
