Jim Miller Edges Joe Lauzon In Rematch

At UFC 155, Joe Lauzon (26-12) and Jim Miller (27-8, 1 NC) engaged in a bloody classic that went the distance. Miller was victorious on that night over three years ago. The two lightweights met again at UFC on FOX 21 from the Rogers Center in Vancouver.

Miller now holds a 2-0 record over Lauzon, but some will certainly argue the decision of the rematch.

They wasted little time trading leather. Miller scrambled out of a leg lock. Miller connected with some knees to the body. Lauzon moved forward, throwing punches and pressing his opponent against the fence. Miller landed a knee on the break. Miller made a technical mistake when he botched a spinning elbow attempt and wound up on his back. Miller got up and landed a combination starting with a body punch. The round ended shortly after threw out another combination.

Miller immediately moved in throwing punches. Lauzon landed a right hand. Miller had his high kick blocked. Lauzon landed two punches and moved forward. Miller got in a body kick. Lauzon moved back and landed a straight right hand. A jab found its mark for “J-Lau” and he scored a takedown. Miller went for a triangle to no avail. Lauzon landed some elbows and stood in control until the round ended.

The final frame began and Miller landed a big uppercut. Miller was on the attack with a knee to the body and some relentless strikes. Lauzon fought back and appeared to shake any cobwebs he may have had. “J-Lau” earned another takedown before the clock hit the three minute mark. Miller reversed and was able to stand back up with over a minute left. It didn’t take long for Lauzon to push his opponent against the fence. Miller went for a throw, but he couldn’t get it. He then rolled, but Lauzon earned top control. Lauzon went for an armbar as the final horn sounded.

The score totals were read and two of the three judges gave the nod to Miller.

Final Result: Jim Miller def. Joe Lauzon via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
