Jan Blachowicz is Pissed off about Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree: “What the f***”
UFC light heavyweight contender Jan Blachowicz has questioned why Khalil Rountree is getting a title opportunity against Alex Pereira.
For many years now, Jan Blachowicz has been one of the top names at 205 pounds. In fact, he’s even been UFC light heavyweight champion, taking the crown when he defeated Dominick Reyes during the pandemic era.
Ever since then, he’s had mixed fortunes inside the cage. He beat Israel Adesanya, then lost to Glover Teixeira. He defeated Aleksandar Rakic, then drew with Magomed Ankalaev in his latest title opportunity.
Then, last summer, he lost a split decision to Alex Pereira – in a result that he still disputes to this day. ‘Poatan’ went on to capture the UFC light heavyweight championship, and he’s successfully defended it twice after that.
It’s recently been announced that Khalil Rountree will get a crack at Pereira later this year. As you can probably tell by now, the master of Polish Power isn’t happy about it.
Jan Blachowicz speaks out
“No f***ing idea [why they chose Khalil Rountree Jr]. I don’t know. You tell me, because I’m confused. What the f***, you know? Why they book Ankalaev with Rakic? Why? Why they don’t ask me about this? Nobody ask me. I just don’t understand.”
“I believe I won this fight against him [Alex Pereira], and maybe they don’t want to make the fight again because they know he gonna lose 100 percent. Maybe also that’s why they don’t want to give Ankalaev to him, because Ankalaev is also very strong. Maybe this is the reason.”
At the age of 41, Jan Blachowicz probably doesn’t have a whole lot of time left at the elite level. With that being said, you can tell he’s still as hungry as he’s ever been to get back in there and prove people wrong. Hopefully, he gets the chance to compete sooner rather than later.
