Jake Matthews Wears Down Johnny Case For Submission Win

The fourth bout on the main card of UFC Fight Night 85 featured a lightweight battle between Jake Matthews (10-1) and Johnny Case (22-5). “The Celtic Kid” looked to put on a show for the Australian crowd.

He didn’t disappoint.

Matthews caught a push kick and clipped Case. “Hollywood” sprawled on Matthews’ takedown attempt. A left hand from Case found the mark on “The Celtic Kid.”

A push kick to the body landed for Case early in the second frame. Matthews missed a hook. A body kick from “The Celtic Kid” landed and Case went for a takedown. Matthews went for a triangle, but Case got out and landed a right hand on the ground. A knee to the body landed for Case. “Hollywood” ate a big body kick, but ended the round in top control.

The third round began and Matthews pressed his opponent against the fence. He landed a knee on the break. A left hand sent “Hollywood” back a bit. Matthews stuffed a takedown attempt. Case threw a push kick and pressed Matthews against the fence. “The Celtic Kid” got a hold of the back of “Hollywood” and locked in a choke. Case avoided the submission, but his back was not freed. Matthews locked in the rear-naked choke and forced the tap.
