Jake Ellenberger Turns Back The Clock, Finishes Matt Brown

Jake Ellenberger Nate Marquardt

A welterweight clash between two heavy hitters served as the third bout on the main card of UFC 201. The two 170-pound stalwarts were Matt Brown (20-15) and Jake Ellenberger (31-11).

“The Juggernaut” scored his first knockout win since March 2013, and he did it in under two minutes.

Immediately, Ellenberger dropped Brown with a punch. “The Juggernaut” swarmed his opponent. Brown recovered and tripped his opponent to get some breathing room. Brown was again dropped, this time with a kick to the body. Some ground and pound sealed the deal for Ellenberger, who returned to form with this early finish.

Heading into this bout, Ellenberger had only won one fight in his last six outings. The rough stretch was a far cry from his six-fight winning streak from 2010 through early 2012. Perhaps this win will be the start of a resurgence for “The Juggernaut.”
