Israel Adesanya Takes Shot At Jon Jones, Brother For Popping In 2016

Israel Adesanya still has his sights set on a Jon Jones clash in 2021.

The two went back-and-forth on social media for much of 2019 leading to fans wanting to see them collide. However, Adesanya predicted the fight would happen in 2021 instead because he wanted to clean out the middleweight division first.

Jones, meanwhile, is set to defend his light heavyweight title against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in February. Speaking at the pre-fight press conference, “Bones” notably called Adesanya a “p*ssy” for not wanting to fight him among other things.

Adesanya took issue with that in a recent appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show by taking shots at Jones and his brother Arthur — a defensive end in the NFL — for failing drug tests at the same time back in 2016.

“He’s [Jones] like, ‘well, when I’m done, I’m glad people can remember my accolades rather than my walkout.’ Like shut the f*ck up,” Adesanya said. “People are going to remember you because you’re a drug cheat. You’re a steroid cheat. That’s what they’re going to remember.

“All the sh*t you’ve done after [beating] Shogun? Nobody really cares anymore because they know you cheated. You popped on the same month as your brother, 2016.”

Adesanya maintains that he will have the better career after it’s all said and done, especially after what he’s achieved in such a short amount of time in the UFC:

“My walkouts are going to be greater than his whole career,” he added. “… I’m only just getting started. I’m f*cking nearly two years in the UFC. Imagine what I’m going to do in the next five, six, seven years. He’s already a boomer, he’s old, he’s washed.”
