invicta 15.. 1

It was once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, January 16th, 2016) will come from Invicta FC 15. Headlining the card are Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino and Daria Ibragimova, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino (14-1, 1 NC) and Daria Ibragimova (9-1) met in a women’s featherweight title bout as the main event of Invicta FC 15. Cyborg did it again. The fight almost went the distance in the first round after Ibragimova controlled the fight with her clinch and grappling. That did not matter as Justino cracked her with a strike that put her out and Ibragimova fell to her back. Justino had a bad toe injury. Either way, Cyborg is still champion.

Livia Renata Souza (8-0) and DeAnna Bennett (8-0) met in a women’s strawweight title bout as the co-main event of Invicta FC 15. Another quick finish. Souza stunned her with a body kick that dropped Bennett and she finished her on the ground to win the fight in the first round. First 30-seconds of the fight. Souza stays undefeated and still champion.

Raquel Pa’aluhi (5-4) and Colleen Schneider (9-6) met in a women’s bantamweight bout at Invicta FC 15. This bout was delayed several minutes before the ambulance had left and the promotion had to wait for it to return to the arena. A back and forth fight that saw Schneider dominate on her feet, but was taken down a few times in the fight. In the end, Schneider earned a split decision victory.

Amber Brown and Shino VanHoose met in a women’s atomweight bout at Invicta FC 15. This one did not last long as Brown locked in a guillotine choke early in the first round for the win.

Angela Hill (2-2) and Alida Gray (4-2) met in a women’s strawweight bout at event. This one did not last long. Hill landed a hard right hand then poured on the strikes and the fight is stopped in the first round. This marked Hill’s first fight in the promotion after a less than impressive performance in the UFC.

Lacey Schuckman (11-8) and Mizuki Inoue (9-4) met in a women’s strawweight bout at event. Inoue controlled the entire fight with her ground and pound. Schuckman had nothing to offer in terms of competition to Inoue in this fight. Inoue put her out of her misery in the third round with an armbar.

Megan Anderson (4-2) and Amber Leibrock (1-0) met in a women’s featherweight bout at event. This was a fun opener that saw Anderson control most of the action with her striking and clinch work. The finish came after Anderson dominated the first few minutes of the third round on the ground. Leibrook got up, and Anderson poured on the strikes to earn a TKO victory.
