Ian McCall versus Demetrious Johnson rematch set

Had an error not been made, the UFC would have been scheduling their first Flyweight title fight. Instead, they are in a spot where they are booking a rematch between Ian McCall and Demetrious Johnson.

McCall and Johnson will meet on June 8 on the UFC on FX 3 fight card. As of now the event does not have a location, that will be determined by the UFC’s “Hometown Throwdown” contest that is being run in conjunction with Harley Davidson.

McCall and Johnson met at the UFC on FX 2 card, where Johnson was declared the winner in error. In actuality the fighters were tied on the judges’ cards after three rounds and should have gone to a deciding fourth round, but an error in tabulation resulted in Johnson being declared the winner.

MMAJunkie.com is reporting that this fight will have the same format as the previous meeting, three rounds with a tiebreaking fourth if needed.

The winner will then move on to face Joseph Benavidez at a later date, with the victor of that fight walking away with the UFC Flyweight belt.
